This garden sits a stones-throw from the beach but with direct views blocked by another house; the suggestion of the rythmic flow of waves was brought into the garden in the design of the fence. The garden was also east-facing with no rear garden, so the deck linkage was designed to catch the sun for as long as possible.
Planting was of a coastal Mediterranean nature, bringing vibrancy of dynamic foliage and flower into this small space. Herbs and grasses give flower and movement, with structure from shrubs and phormiums. Even on a rainy winters day this space is uplifting.
